Silver wine goblets and chalices have been used for centuries, originating as prestigious vessels for royalty, religious ceremonies, and wealthy households before becoming popular dining accessories in later periods.

These items are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often featuring a gilded interior known as vermeil, and constructed using traditional silversmithing techniques such as spinning, casting, and hand-hammering.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks stamped into the metal, which indicate the assay office, standard of silver purity, makers mark, and date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

A silver goblet can be styled as a decorative accent on a mantelpiece, bar cart, or open shelving, contrasting effectively with modern minimalist decor or adding metallic warmth to a traditional setting.

Preservation requires regular gentle polishing with a specialised silver cloth and non-abrasive cream to prevent tarnish accumulation, followed by hand washing with mild soap and immediate drying.
