FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in Britain during the late 19th century as a reaction against mass production, promoting traditional craftsmanship, hand-hammered textures, and motifs inspired by nature.

These pieces were typically crafted from base metals such as brass, copper, or Britannia metal, then finished with a silver plate, often featuring hand-hammered surfaces known as planishing.

Authentic pieces usually display hand-worked surface textures, makers marks or manufacturer stamps on the base, and characteristic organic motifs like stylized leaves, flowers, or Celtic-inspired lines.

It can be displayed as a standalone decorative object on a sideboard, open shelving, or a coffee table to add tactile metallic contrast and historical character to contemporary spaces.

Clean gently with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver cleaner only when necessary to avoid wearing away the thin silver plate, and store in a low-humidity environment.
