Item Description:
This is an original Byzantine terracotta oil lamp, dating from approximately the 5th to 6th century AD. Hand-formed in earthenware with incised radial decoration, it features a central fill hole and rounded wick nozzle typical of the Late Roman/Byzantine style. These lamps were commonly used in homes and devotional settings across the Byzantine Empire.
This is a genuine antiquity — not a reproduction.
Period: Byzantine Empire (c. 5th–7th century AD)
Material: Terracotta
Provenance: Former UK collection
Size: Approx. 8–10cm
Condition: Excellent condition in line with age; expected surface wear and some age-related encrustation. Please review all images for condition.
