Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French gilded brass wall lights, often referred to as sconces or appliques, trace their origins to the 17th and 18th centuries when they were designed to hold candles and reflect candlelight using metallic backplates to illuminate grand interiors.

These fixtures are typically crafted from cast or stamped brass, often finished with fire gilding or ormolu. Construction frequently involves mechanical joints, screws, and hand-finished detailing such as beaded edges and scroll arms.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate casting methods, natural patination, and hand-cut threading or slotted screws rather than modern Phillips-head fasteners, reflecting the manufacturing techniques of their era.

Antique wall lights can be integrated into contemporary spaces by mounting them symmetrically flanking a mirror, fireplace, or headboard to introduce historical contrast, tactile warmth, and layered ambient lighting.

Gilded brass should be cleaned sparingly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Abrasive polishes must be avoided to protect the delicate metallic surface layer and preserve the natural historical patina.
