Agricultural show medals from the 19th century were awarded to farmers and breeders in recognition of excellence in livestock breeding, crop production, and farming innovations during the height of the industrial agricultural revolution.

These pieces were typically struck from sterling silver and finished with hand-engraved lettering, often featuring ornate cast borders and integrated suspension loops for wear or display.

Authenticity is verified through examining hallmarks, assay office stamps, the style of hand-engraving, and natural signs of age-related oxidisation and wear on the silver surface.

Antique medals can be displayed by framing them in shadow boxes, mounting them on bespoke stands, or incorporating them into curated gallery walls alongside other historical documents and artefacts.

Preservation requires storing pieces in stable humidity environments, avoiding harsh chemical dips that strip desirable patina, and gently cleaning with a soft microfibre cloth only when necessary.
