Preserve silver medals by handling them minimally to avoid skin oils, storing them in stable humidity conditions, and avoiding aggressive chemical cleaning that removes the historical patina.

Antique medals can be shadow-box framed on a study wall, displayed in a glass-topped cabinet, or styled alongside books and curiosities in a library setting.

Authentic pieces feature period-appropriate hand engraving, traditional hallmarks or maker marks where applicable, and natural patination and wear consistent with age.

These pieces were typically struck in sterling or coin silver, featuring hand-engraved inscriptions and ornate repousse or cast scrolling borders characteristic of the period.

Agricultural show medals were commemorative awards presented during the 19th century to farmers, breeders, and exhibitors for excellence in livestock, crops, and farming innovations.
