Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

An apprentice piece, or journeyman piece, is a miniature version of a larger item of furniture created by a craftsman to demonstrate skill and secure master status in a trade guild.

These items were typically constructed from cabinet timbers such as mahogany, oak, walnut, or pine, frequently featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and decorative wood marquetry or stringing.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, natural timber ageing, hand-turned wooden knobs, and tool marks consistent with historical manufacturing techniques rather than modern mass production.

Position the piece on a console table, bookshelf, or desk as a focal point for displaying small collectables, or use it functionally for storing trinkets and stationery.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the timber, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture.
