A very fine antique Kashan carpet of massive proportions. A so called Manchester type carpet, with incredibly soft, silky, almost translucent wool and vivid natural dyes. Pretty, all over field design on madder ground flanked by chunky navy borders. Interestingly, this magnificent carpet is signed in many places Qazan, clearly made for the ''Qazan'' carpet company who imported wool from Manchester in the UK back in the late 19th and early 20th century. This unusually large example survives in fabulous, original condition, full pile pretty much everywhere, just one or two small repairs and minimal traces of use.
