Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

An antique silver overlay bitters bottle is a glass container encased in fine metalwork, typically manufactured during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for dispensing aromatic cocktail flavourings.

These pieces combine blown or moulded clear glass with applied sterling or high-purity silver, often shaped using chemical etching and electroplating techniques to fuse the metal securely onto the glass surface.

Authentic items feature traditional maker marks or silver purity stamps, hand-finished detailing within the floral or geometric motifs, and natural patination indicative of age on the silver components.

Position the piece on a mirrored bar cart, a drinks cabinet tray, or a dedicated mantelpiece to showcase the reflective qualities of the glass and metalwork within a contemporary setting.

Clean the glass with a mild detergent and water while avoiding harsh abrasives on the silver. Use a specialist non-abrasive silver cloth gently around the metal overlay to maintain its lustre without damaging the glass bond.
