The George II period, spanning from 1727 to 1760, is characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and a transition from plain surfaces to more exuberant Rococo ornamentation.

These pieces were handcrafted from sterling silver using techniques such as raising from a single flat sheet of metal, casting for handles, and hand-chasing or engraving for decoration.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks indicating the assay office, makers mark, and date letter, alongside period-appropriate weight, gauge, and construction wear.

Integrating antique silver involves displaying it as a metallic accent on a wooden surface, such as a sideboard or bookshelf, to create a contrast between old and new textures.

Preserve silver by storing it in a tarnish-resistant environment, handling it with clean hands or cotton gloves, and cleaning it sparingly with specialised non-abrasive silver polish.
