Chinese silver cigarette case, Hung Chong & Co., Shanghai, c. 1900. The heavy gauge silver case, embossed and chased with figures in gardens before pavilions, surrounding a shield shaped cartouche.

The reverse with a shaped panel, contains Chinese script, on a dense ground of bamboo.

Having a gilded interior, engraved with leaves.

Hallmarks for Hung Chong & Co. and Chinese ‘chopmark’.

Weight – 131 grammes, 4.19 Troy ounces.

Height – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4”.

Width – 6.7 cm, 2 5/8”.

Depth – 2 cm, 3/4”.

Condition – Excellent. No repair.
