A late 19th-century solid oak pedestal desk with carved green man detail. The rectangular top is inset with a tooled red leather writing surface bordered by Greek key gilding. Below, nine drawers are arranged in a traditional kneehole layout, each fronted with foliate carving and stylised masks. The oak is deeply patinated, with panelled back and plain sides allowing for freestanding use. English, circa 1880. A practical statement piece for your home office or study.
