Art Deco 18ct Gold Platinum and Diamond Target Ring, C 1920

1900 - 1920
Description

Fabulous antique diamond ring, classic of Art Deco, a fine target ring with a larger stone in the centre surrounded by a halo of smaller stones.

English-made, circa 1920-30, crafted in 18 ct. gold (750 fineness) and platinum and set with old hand-cut European diamonds. The ring looks very elegant and sparkles beautifully when worn.

Despite their age, such rings look stunning in modern ensembles, they easily combine with other jewellery, and never appear dated. They represent a confident, elegant classic, a fine example of good taste.

Marked (stamped) to the inside of the shank 18ct.

Dimensions: ring size – O, USA – 7 1/4, total ring weight – 2.38 grams, total estimated calculates diamond weight in the ring – 0.75 ct, central stone – 0.25 ct, colour – J-H, clarity SI1.

Condition – excellent, with minimal age-related wear, all stones appear original.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 20th century, a target ring features concentric circles of gemstones or enamel surrounding a central stone, creating a pattern reminiscent of a target.

These rings typically feature diamonds set in platinum tops with 18ct yellow or white gold shanks, frequently incorporating calibre-cut gemstones, onyx, or enamel to create contrast.

Authentic period pieces usually display hand-applied milgrain edging, platinum-faced gold settings, period hallmarks, and geometric symmetry characteristic of 1920s design.

An Art Deco target ring serves as a statement piece that pairs equally well with minimalist contemporary tailoring or formal eveningwear.

Clean the ring gently using warm water, mild detergent, and a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaning if enamel or delicate mounts are present.
