Art Deco jewellery boxes emerged during the 1920s and 1930s, reflecting a modern aesthetic characterised by geometric patterns, streamlined forms, and industrial influences.

These boxes were typically constructed from a base metal such as brass, copper, or nickel silver, which was then coated with a layer of silver plating through electroplating techniques.

Authentic pieces often feature period-specific hallmarks, maker marks, and characteristic surface treatments like engine turning, alongside construction methods typical of early to mid-20th-century manufacturing.

Such an item can be displayed on a dressing table, bedside cabinet, or open shelving unit to add metallic contrast and a touch of vintage character to modern spaces.

Preserve silver plating by cleaning it gently with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish only when necessary, avoiding abrasive materials that can strip the thin silver layer.
