Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Heriz carpets originate from the Northwest Iranian region surrounding the town of Heris and are renowned for their geometric interpretations of classic Persian floral motifs. Produced predominantly from the nineteenth century onwards, these rugs are distinguished by their robust construction and bold, stylized medallion designs.

Traditional Heriz carpets are hand-knotted using durable hand-spun wool pile woven onto a strong cotton warp and weft foundation. The local wool is historically rich in copper content due to natural water minerals, conferring exceptional strength and lustre to the yarn.

Authentic Heriz carpets feature distinct angular, geometric designs rather than curvilinear patterns, alongside a coarse yet durable symmetrical knotting technique. They typically showcase a bold central geometric motif framed by prominent corner spandrels and a multi-tiered border.

A Heriz carpet serves as a foundational anchor in contemporary settings, providing warmth and historic texture alongside minimal or mid-century furniture. The bold geometric patterns and deep terracotta and indigo tones complement both dark timber accents and neutral architectural palettes.

Vacuum the carpet regularly on a low-suction setting without a rotating brush to prevent fibre agitation. Rotate the rug annually to ensure even wear and sun exposure, and seek professional specialist hand-washing for periodic deep cleaning.
