Scottish pebble jewellery gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, largely due to Queen Victorias affection for Balmoral and the Scottish Highlands, which popularised regional hardstones set in silver.

These pieces typically utilise locally sourced Scottish stones such as bloodstone, jasper, and various coloured agates, hand-cut and set into sterling or coin silver mounts.

Authenticity is usually determined by the presence of period-appropriate closures like shepherds hooks or C-clasps, hand-cut stone inlays with tight tolerances, and characteristic regional motifs rather than modern machine fabrication.

These distinct statement pieces pair effectively with minimalist modern garments, allowing the rich textures and earthy colours of the historic stones to serve as a focal point.

Preservation involves storing pieces in dry, lined compartments away from direct sunlight, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and gently wiping the silver and stones with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
