This plate dates to 1785

It is approx 81/2inches in diameter

The hand painted detail is utterly stunning

The plate has at some point had a break and repair

However from the from this is barely noticeable and does not detract from the exceptional craftsmanship of both the potter and the artist decorating the plate

Furstenberg, established in 1747 in Lower Saxony, Germany, is renowned for producing high-grade hard-paste porcelain. Reticulated plates feature pierced lattice work around the rim, often combined with hand-painted botanical subjects.

Crafters formed these plates from kaolin-based porcelain clay, cutting out the pierced geometric openwork along the rim by hand before firing. Polychrome enamel decorations, such as botanical sprigs and insects, were subsequently hand-painted and fired at lower temperatures.
