We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

  • MotifsGuilloche enamel, Floral motif, Engine-turned metal

Art Deco design often incorporates geometric engine-turning, vibrant guilloche enamelwork, and sleek functional forms that reflect the modern aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s.

These pieces typically combine sterling silver framework, vitreous or guilloche enamel decoration, and organic elements such as celluloid, bone, or early plastics for the blade.

Authentic pieces generally bear period silver hallmarks, hand-applied translucent enamel over engine-turned metal grounds, and traditional weight and patina consistent with age.

Positioning historical reading accessories within glass display cabinets, on open bookshelves, or atop coffee table books adds a layer of curated intellectual charm to a room.

Store them in low-humidity environments, avoid abrasive silver polishes on enamel surfaces, and clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to protect the delicate metalwork.
