We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Colonial Indian silver items, particularly from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often featured traditional local craftsmanship combined with European utilitarian forms produced for the export and domestic elite markets.

These pieces were typically crafted using heavy gauge solid silver, often decorated with intricate repousse and chasing techniques depicting regional flora, fauna, or architectural scenes.

Authenticity is determined by evaluating the weight, the hand-worked quality of the metal, natural oxidisation patterns in the recesses, and occasionally makers marks or purity stamps typical of the period.

Placed horizontally upon a desk or displayed upright within a bookcase, it adds a layer of historical texture and metallic interest to a sophisticated interior.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfiber cloth and a mild, non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to preserve the dark patination in the recessed chased details.
