Description

South west persia,3rd quarter 19th century.

Belonging to a group of earlier qashqai weavings. (see another example within my own collection,item number sa1114536) with the smaller flower sprigs surrounding the three medallions and within the inner perimeter field.

The weave is a lot finer with smaller knots when looked at from the back. These type of examples identified by claremont rug company last two images

Hand washed and de-dusted.

All ends and sides secured.

Does have low pile with very light wear but price takes this into account.

6 foot 9 inches by 4 foot 4 inches. 206cm X 131cm. At widest points. All finely woven woollen construction.

Qashqai rugs originated from the nomadic Qashqai confederation in the Fars province of Southwest Iran. Woven primarily during the 19th and early 20th centuries, these carpets reflect nomadic traditions, featuring spontaneous geometric patterns and stylized animal or floral symbols passed down through generations.
