Description

A beautiful rare Spanish solid silver holy water wall font. It is hallmarked with the Spanish 915 star standard mark and a makers mark. The star mark was used from 1934, I would date this piece to around that time. It has been beautifully made and has a gilded water holding section. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 5.5 inches (14.5cm) tall by 2 inches (5.2cm) across and weighs 54 grams. A very good quality interesting piece.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver polish only when necessary, avoiding harsh abrasives to preserve the original patina and fine surface details.

A vintage metal wall font can be mounted on a narrow wall space or displayed within a gallery wall arrangement, adding a layer of historical texture and metallic contrast to modern decor.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate hallmarks or makers marks, natural tarnish and oxidisation consistent with age, and hand-chased or repousse detailing rather than modern casting flaws.

Antique holy water stoups were crafted from a variety of durable materials including solid silver, brass, pewter, carved wood, ceramic, and marble, depending on the region and the status of the piece.

A holy water font, also known as a stoup, is a small vessel used in Christian liturgy and domestic settings to hold holy water for the purpose of blessing oneself upon entering or leaving a space.
