Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Antique Indian carpets developed significantly during the Mughal Empire, heavily influenced by Persian weaving traditions. They typically feature structured floral designs, lattice grids, vase motifs, and woven medallion borders created using hand-knotted wool on cotton foundations.

Traditional Indian carpets are constructed using natural wool pile hand-knotted onto a cotton or silk warp and weft foundation. Organic vegetable and mineral dyes were historically used to produce deep red, indigo blue, and cream colour tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit unevenness characteristic of hand-weaving, visible knots on the reverse side matching the surface pattern, and natural variation in dye tones known as abrash. Examining the fringe construction, where warp threads extend directly from the foundation, also confirms traditional assembly.

A large red pattern carpet serves as a visual anchor in a living room, dining area, or library. Balance the detailed pattern by pairing it with neutral wall colours, natural wood furniture, and subtle upholstery fabrics.

Vacuum the carpet regularly using suction only to avoid damaging the fibers with a rotary brush. Place a rug pad beneath the carpet to protect against wear, rotate the carpet periodically to ensure even light exposure, and engage a specialist textile cleaner for stain removal.
