Indeed this rug, has wefts of wool and cotton mixed. The weave is fine with non-depressed cotton warps. Otherwise the design is very recognisable as Bakhtiar. The classic 'Heshti' design of square panels decorated with plant forms has been beautifully drawn. But it is the border which sets this rug off as special. The impressionistic drawing of the roses or 'gol farang' is very striking and is in contrast to the rigid design of the field. Excellent natural dyes have been used to create a vivid and joyful rug. Cherished through the generations, it has survived in excellent condition. Professionally cleaned.
