FAQs

Edwardian egg cruets gained popularity during the early 20th century as essential items for formal breakfast dining in wealthy households, reflecting the eras elaborate hospitality customs.

These sets were typically manufactured using a base metal such as nickel silver or Britannia metal, which was then electroplated with silver and often featured interior gilding known as vermeil.

Authentic pieces usually feature period makers marks, EPNS designations, and traditional construction methods such as cast mounts and hand-chased decorative borders rather than modern machine stamping.

This type of decorative tableware functions well as a centrepiece on a dining table or sideboard, adding metallic texture and historical contrast to modern minimalist interiors.

Silver plate should be cleaned gently using specialist silver polish to avoid removing the plating, washed in warm soapy water without harsh detergents, and stored in a dry environment to prevent tarnishing.
