Art Deco jewellery is characterised by geometric precision, stylised motifs, symmetrical designs, and a strong contrast achieved through the pairing of colourful gemstones with diamonds and platinum or white gold.

Jewellery from this era frequently utilised platinum, white gold, and yellow gold settings, often featuring bezel, millegrain, or pave-set diamonds surrounding a central cabochon gemstone like an opal.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate hand-cut diamonds such as old European or single cuts, genuine hand-crafted metalwork showing age-related patina, and construction methods consistent with 1920s goldsmithing.

An antique ring makes a distinct focal point and can be worn as a standalone statement piece on the hand, paired alongside minimalist modern bands to highlight its historical character.

Opals contain natural water content and are softer than diamonds, requiring protection from harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, extreme temperature changes, and physical impacts to prevent cracking or scratching.
