Victorian silver spans the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901) and is characterised by eclectic revivals of historical motifs, heavy ornamentation, and highly detailed craftsmanship utilising techniques like chasing, piercing, and repousse.

These items were typically crafted from sterling silver (925 parts per thousand) using a combination of hand-piercing, stamping, and repousse work, where designs are hammered into relief from the reverse side.

Authenticity is verified through British hallmarks, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark (such as a lion passant for sterling), a city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production.

Antique silver can be integrated into contemporary spaces by using them as functional accent pieces on coffee tables or sideboards, contrasting the highly polished metallic texture with organic elements like wood or ceramics.

Preserve antique silver by storing it in a tarnish-resistant environment, washing it gently with mild soap and warm water when necessary, and using a soft cloth with specialised silver polish sparingly to avoid removing the fine details.
