The Edwardian period spans the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often characterised by a revival of classical styles, including Georgian and Neo-Classical motifs, alongside superb craftsmanship in sterling silver.

Card-cut decoration is a technique where thin sheets of silver are pierced, cut, and applied to the surface of a vessel to create intricate geometric, floral, or foliate patterns inspired by Islamic and continental European metalwork.

Authentic Edwardian pieces bear British hallmarks comprising a standard mark (such as a lion passant for sterling silver), a town mark for the assay office, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of testing.

An antique silver mug can be used as a sophisticated desk accessory for holding pens, displayed on an open shelf, or utilised as a small vase for fresh cut flowers to add a glint of metallic texture to a modern room.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to avoid removing the desired patina, and stored in a low-humidity environment away from direct sunlight to minimise tarnish.
