Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A basket chandelier, also known as a sac-a-perles or bag light, features concentric rings or strands of crystal beads suspended from a upper frame that gather together at the base to form a bowl shape. Originating in the eighteenth century and widely produced throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, this design conceals internal bulbs within an enclosed crystal envelope.

These ceiling fittings traditionally combine cast or chased brass and bronze galleries with hand-cut glass or lead crystal prisms and beads. The crystal elements are linked together using thin brass wiring attached to internal support rings.

Authentic period light fittings feature cast brass frames with chased detail, aged surface patination, and hand-linked wire connections between glass facets. Hand-cut glass drops display minor irregularities in cut angles compared to modern machine-moulded glass.

A crystal basket chandelier serves as a primary lighting focal point when suspended above a dining table, positioned within an entrance hall, or hung in a primary bedroom. The multifaceted glass construction diffuses light across surrounding surfaces to complement modern or classical decor.

Dust the individual glass drops gently using a microfibre cloth or a soft bristle brush. For thorough cleaning, wipe cut glass elements using isopropyl alcohol applied to a lint-free cloth, ensuring liquid does not saturate the wiring or untreated metal surfaces.
