Antique Oak Revolving Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

A lovely revolving oak bookcase dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It has two levels and stands on a rotating base with castors below. The top of the bookcase hinges upwards and can be fixed at an angle on an easel back for reading and it comes with a removable bookrest. It is a good quality piece and the wood has a lovely rich colour.

It is in good condition with no major damages and revolves freely. There are some signs of age and use, some light knocks and marks, a couple of minor chips on the bottom edge and a small chip to the bottom of one upright (see photos) but nothing detrimental. There are some signs of historic worm around the base which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the bookcase structurally or aesthetically. It is strong and sturdy and displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
