Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dressing table items from the George V period (19101936) often feature refined silver mounts, cut glass or crystal bases, and decorative inlays such as tortoiseshell or guilloche enamel. Design motifs frequently drew from classical Neoclassical and Edwardian styles.

These vessels were typically crafted with a heavy cut-glass or crystal body, topped with a sterling silver rim and stopper. The top inlay comprised polished tortoiseshell, often decorated with silver or gold pique work.

Authentic pieces feature official British hallmarks stamped on the silver rim or cap, indicating the silver purity, assay office, and date letter. Tortoiseshell inlays demonstrate natural variations in tone under magnification and are often inset with inlaid silver wire or foil.

An antique scent bottle can be displayed on a vanity tray, a marble bathroom counter, or a bedside table alongside contemporary glass containers to create a layered, curatorial vignette.

Clean the glass body using warm water and mild soap, avoiding immersion of the silver cap. Polish the silver rim using a soft cloth and specialized silver polish, taking care to keep chemical cleaners away from the natural tortoiseshell insert.
