This well-proportioned piece features a moulded cornice above a pair of astragal glazed doors with central panels showcasing mercury-backed mirrors, enclosing two adjustable shelves.The flamed mahogany fall front opens to reveal a beautifully fitted interior with secret drawers and a green inset leather writing surface. Below, there are four long graduated drawers with pine and oak liners, providing ample storage. The piece stands on its original low bracket feet and is adorned with original brass swan-neck handles.This bureau bookcase comes with locks and working keys, making it a superb example of Georgian craftsmanship dating from around 1770.
