A very rare 19th Century finely cast polished brass coal scuttle and shovel of exceptional quality. The ornately embossed body of helmet form with hinged lidded top is profusely embossed with panels of stunning arrangements of fans of foliate, flowerheads, bell husks and trailing leaves with studded motif detail throughout. Surmounted with a decorative ring turned brass and finely hand carved wooden carrying handle adorned with richly scrolling foliate detail and with a fitted storage section to house the brass and wooden shovel, supported on an elegant, moulded and domed circular base.
