Preservation requires storing items in tarnish-resistant cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive cleaners, and hand-washing with mild soap and warm water followed by thorough drying with a soft microfibre cloth.

Antique silver can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets or utilised during formal dining occasions to add historical texture and refined metallic accents to modern tablescapes.

Authenticity is verified through hallmark analysis, which usually includes the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling standard, a city mark, and a date letter corresponding to the active registry years.

Pieces from this era were typically forged from sterling silver, adhering to the strict standard of 92.5 percent silver purity, and often featured hand-beaten blades joined to handles via traditional soldering or integral casting methods.

George II silver, produced during the reign of King George II from 1727 to 1760, is characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and a transition from plain surfaces to rich cast and chased rococo ornamentation.
