Caddy spoons emerged in the mid-18th century as specialized implements designed for transferring loose tea leaves from a caddy into a teapot, becoming highly artistic in Britain during the Georgian period.

These pieces were predominantly hand-wrought from solid sterling silver, frequently employing techniques such as stamping, chasing, repousse, and piercing to achieve intricate decorative forms.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling purity, a duty mark showing tax payment, and a date letter.

These small collectables can be displayed inside glass cabinets, arranged on a traditional tea tray, or showcased on dedicated plate stands within a dining room or living space.

Preservation requires storing items in tarnish-resistant cloth, avoiding harsh abrasive dips, and cleaning gently with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish only when necessary.
