Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Decanter labels, also known as wine tickets, emerged in the 18th century to identify the contents of opaque glass or ceramic decanters. By the 20th century, silversmiths created decorative hallmarked silver tags featuring enamelled lettering for popular spirits such as whisky, gin, and brandy.

Traditional decanter labels were primarily crafted from sterling silver, silver plate, or mother-of-pearl, featuring engraved, die-stamped, or enamelled detailing attached to silver suspension chains.

Authentic silver decanter labels feature official assay office hallmarks, including makers marks, purity stamps such as the lion passant for sterling silver, date letters, and assay location symbols like Birmingham or London.

Suspend the silver label around the neck of a crystal spirit decanter positioned on a bar cart, tray, or sideboard to add a functional accent to entertaining spaces.

Gently polish the silver surfaces with a soft silver-polishing cloth, taking care around enamel lettering to prevent chipping, and store in a dry environment to minimise oxidisation.
