Caddy spoons emerged in the 18th century alongside imported tea, designed specifically to measure loose tea leaves from caddies into teapots.

These items were typically fabricated from sterling silver using techniques such as stamping, casting, and hand-engraving by skilled silversmiths.

Authenticity is determined by verifying period-specific hallmarks, makers marks, and testing the silver content alongside examining manufacturing wear.

Displaying antique silver within a glass-fronted cabinet or on a dedicated tray brings traditional metallic texture and heritage character into contemporary spaces.

Preservation involves storing pieces in tarnish-resistant cloth and cleaning them sparingly with specialised non-abrasive silver polish to protect the metal.
