Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Reign of George V (19101936), British silversmiths combined traditional hallmarked sterling silver with vitreous enamel techniques influenced by Art Deco and Arts & Crafts movements. These small cased sets were popular high-end gift items designed specifically for formal after-dinner coffee service.

These items are constructed from solid sterling silver or silver-gilt, decorated with vitreous enamela glass powder fused to the metal surface at high temperatures. Fitted presentation cases are typically lined with silk and velvet over a leatherette or wooden frame.

Authentic pieces feature official British assay marks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark, a date letter corresponding to the George V period, and a makers mark. The enamel should be smooth, vitreous, and fused directly into carved or engine-turned metal recessed areas.

Cased silver spoon sets are ideal displayed open on a sideboard top, coffee station tray, or inside a glazed cabinet. Their compact scale and decorative enamel work add refined metallic texture to contemporary entertaining spaces.

Silver sections should be gently wiped with a soft silver-polishing cloth, avoiding contact with the enamel. Never submerge enamelled pieces in liquid silver dips or dishwashers, as harsh chemicals and hot water can crack the vitreous enamel or degrade the adhesive.
