Victorian Inlaid Mahogany Display Cabinet

£3,950    $5,062    €4,771
Victorian inlaid mahogany display cabinet

This wonderful Victorian inlaid mahogany display cabinet was made circa 1880 in one of London’s premier workshops. It bears an S&H Jewell label. S&H Jewell were top quality cabinetmakers established in 1830 although they became more well known in the late 19th century. They also restored and sold antique furniture in their showrooms.

The cabinet that is profusely inlaid is made in 2 parts, the glazed top section sits on the base, thus allowing easy movement to and around your home.

The cabinet top has a pair of glazed doors with elegant traceries. These doors open to allow you access to display porcelain and glass or books. To the top of the cabinet is a pediment and a pair of turned finials. The oak shelves are adjustable.

To each side of the doors top and bottom there are columns with a spiral of intricate inlaid foliage.

The base is lightly bow fronted fitted the drawer and the pair of panel cupboard doors all with magnificent inlaid panels.

It stands on short well-turned mahogany legs.

Owning such a cabinet is bound to give you so much pleasure, and imagine how many compliments you will receive on your choice
