I often ask myself whether I could live with an item recently added to my inventory. In the case of this Oushak carpet, the answer is a resounding ''yes''! Dating to the last quarter of the 19th century, it has all the hallmarks of high Victorian taste. The warm harmonious colours and beautifully arranged design of stylised floral ornaments and leaves on an ivory field is highly decorative. I love the secondary colours in the field, the light blues, greens, soft reds and aubergines. But it is the amber border which really sets off the composition, and gives it a very modern twist. Note also the squarish dimensions which is ideal for enhancing all kinds of interior spaces.
