Size: 15ft 7in x 12ft 8in (475 x 385cm).Antique Turkish Oushak carpet of rare design, the carpet has a soft colour palette, with an unusual soft green ground.Circa 1890.The design of this carpet is found on a small group of carpets made in the town of Joshaghan, the design is also influenced by the well know ''Mohtashem'' Kashan carpets. The carpet has an inscribed panel to the center which bears the same inscription as all the other known examples; it translates as follows, ''Hasabe Farmaieshe Jenabe Mula..(in order of Mr ...most probably Mula or spritual leader .)......then many Doa (pray) for the glory and health of the him ....later Sale (year of ) 1304..... 1886''.
