Ushak, or Oushak, rugs originate from the Usak region in western Turkey and are renowned for their hand-knotted wool pile, stylized geometric and floral motifs, and distinctive warm colour schemes.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a wool or cotton foundation warp and weft, traditionally dyed using vegetable and plant extracts.

Authentic pieces feature traditional Ghiordes double knots, natural abrash colour variations within the wool, flexible hand-bound edges, and the absence of machine stitching or synthetic backings.
