An excellent Georgian Regency era silver snuff box with clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1827, George IV head stamp, and makers mark for Edward Smith. The box has an engine turned surface on all sides with plain smooth edging, and a central vacant shield. The lid bears an ornate scroll for easy opening. The interior has a sumptuous gilt lining, a mark of luxury and quality. The hallmarks appear on both lid and base. The segmented hinge is in perfect working order and the box opens and closes well. The box has a good gauge of silver for its size and weighs 80gr.
