Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

Hanau silver refers to silver items manufactured in the German town of Hanau during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often created in styles mimicking earlier historic periods.

These caddies were typically fashioned from solid silver using traditional techniques such as repousse, chasing, and smithing to create ornate, raised surface designs.

Authentic pieces are generally identified by pseudo-hallmarks or German export marks stamped on the base, alongside the characteristic heavy relief ornamentation typical of Hanau silversmiths.

An antique silver tea caddy can be displayed as a focal accent on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or glass-fronted cabinet, adding metallic texture and historical interest to contemporary spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth to maintain its patina, avoiding harsh liquid dips that can strip the oxidisation from recessed details.
