Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George V era, spanning from 1910 to 1936, reflects a transition from late Edwardian refinement through the austerity of the First World War and into early Art Deco influences, often characterised by crisp machine stamping alongside traditional hand engraving.

These accessories were typically fashioned from sterling silver, featuring hinged frames, chain link handles, and internal silk or leather linings, often embellished with chased, engraved, or repousse scrollwork.

Authenticity is verified by examining the set of stamped hallmarks, which generally include a makers mark, a standard mark denoting silver purity such as the lion passant, a town mark indicating the assay office, and a date letter corresponding to the year of assay.

Small antique silver pieces make excellent display objects when placed inside glass cabinets, on decorative trays, or integrated into shelf styling alongside books and ceramics to introduce metallic texture and historical depth.

Preservation involves storing silver in tarnish-resistant cloth away from direct sunlight and humidity, and cleaning it sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised non-abrasive silver polish to maintain the original patina.
