An American Sterling Silver Christening Bowl by Gorham

19th century
Description

This is an American hallmarked sterling silver child's Christening bowl by Gorham. It was made circa the 1880s.

It is decorated with a band of cast nursery rhyme decoration around the outside rim, and is raised on a circular foot. The bowl is gilded to the interior. It is marked with Gorham's stamp, the word 'STERLING', and the model number '193'. It has a slightly rubbed date stamp.

It is in good general condition with some very light dents and some marks to the surface commensurate to the age.

The bowl weighs 209g / 6.73 oz t.
