Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Afghan Turkmen carpets are hand-knotted floor coverings traditionally crafted by Turkmen weavers in northern Afghanistan and Central Asia, recognised by their repeating geometric gul motifs and deep red colour palettes.

These carpets are constructed using hand-spun wool pile on a wool warp and weft foundation, incorporating yarn dyed with natural mineral and plant sources to create dense, durable floor textiles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-knotted wool construction with slight organic variations, repeating octagonal or diamond gul motifs, and a soft pile with detailed knot structures visible on the reverse side.

A red Turkmen carpet serves as an anchoring base in living rooms, dining areas, or studies, complementing dark timber furniture, neutral upholstery, and modern minimal architectural elements.

Vacuum regularly using suction only without a rotating brush bar, rotate the piece periodically to distribute foot traffic evenly, blot spills immediately with a clean dry cloth, and utilise specialist professional rug cleaners when necessary.
