FREDERICK RICHARD LEE R.A. ( 1798 – 1879 )
A beautiful large signed oil on canvas by the English landscape painter Frederick Richard Lee R.A. The work depicts an extensive landscape with a waterfall in the foreground and is signed lower right and on its original stretcher. The painting dates to around 1830 and has been relined around 1900.

Painter, watercolourist, draughtsman. Hunting scenes, landscapes, landscapes with figures, seascapes.
Frederick Richard Lee started off in the services and fought one campaign in Holland. He then studied at the Royal Academy in London, where he exhibited from 1834. He also took part in exhibitions at the British Institution where he was awarded a prize of 50 pounds in 1829. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1834 and an Academician in 1838. He stopped exhibiting after 1870 and spent the rest of his life travelling.
