Size: 12ft 6in x 7ft 1in (380 x 216cm).
Very good example of a main carpet by the Chakhansur Baluch of South West Afghanistan, border region near the Seistan Desert. Typical design for this region with the classic long kilim ends. Excellent wool, tight weave and natural dyes.
Circa 1890.
The carpet has superb colour with rich red tones, with the design outlined in dark indigo blue, there are ivory highlights around the border.
The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile, there is one very small old repair that I detected.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
A very good example of genuine Baluch weaving.
