Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch prayer rugs were woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic Baluchi tribes inhabiting the Khorassan region of north-eastern Persia and western Afghanistan. These textiles typically feature a architectural mihrab motif representing a prayer niche, designed for portability and daily religious use.

These rugs are hand-knotted using locally sourced wool for the pile, often bound onto a wool or goat hair warp and weft. Dyes were traditionally derived from natural plant and mineral sources, yielding deep terracotta, indigo, madder red, and dark brown shades.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-bound selvedges, slight variations in dye shades known as abrash, and a soft, flexible wool foundation. The design almost always incorporates a rectangular or arched prayer niche (mihrab) at one end alongside geometric tree or grid motifs.

A small antique prayer rug can be styled as a focal accent on a hardwood floor, layered over a neutral sisal carpet, or mounted on a wall as a decorative textile artwork to add texture and historical character.

Vacuum gently using a suction-only attachment without a rotary beater bar to protect the pile knots. Position a quality rug underlay beneath it to prevent slipping and wear, and consult a specialist rug restorer for periodic cleaning.
