Edwardian jewellery spans the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, characterised by lighter, more delicate designs, often incorporating platinum, silver, and thematic motifs inspired by sports, nature, and society.

Antique hatpins were typically constructed with a metal pin shaftoften iron, steel, or brasstopped with decorative finials made from sterling silver, gold, gemstones, glass, porcelain, or carved materials.

Authenticity is generally determined by examining the construction techniques, hallmarks or makers marks on metal components, the length and rigidity of the pin stem, and age-appropriate oxidisation and wear.

Antique hatpins are frequently displayed in vintage glass bottles, mounted in custom shadow boxes, or held in traditional velvet hatpin stands to showcase their decorative finials as miniature sculptures.

Silver components should be gently cleaned using a specialist microfibre cloth to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage delicate settings, historic patinas, or joined elements.
